Youth Luncheon Explores UAE Marketing Culture: Mr. Tom Hui Encourages Global Mindset Among Hong Kong Youth

The Maritime Silk Road Society and the Silk Road Economic Development Research Center co-hosted a thought-provoking luncheon seminar today titled "Luncheon Sharing on Young Marketing Professional in the Hospitality and Aviation Industry", drawing participation from aspiring young professionals and students across Hong Kong.

The speaker, Mr. Tom Hui (許東亨), a marketing professional with international experience in both the Middle East and Hong Kong, shared valuable insights on the subtle yet important cultural and professional differences between the UAE and Hong Kong. Drawing from years of hands-on experience in the hospitality and aviation industries, Mr. Hui discussed how local values, religion, population composition, and branding strategies shape the way marketing is conducted in the UAE.

 

Mr. Hui highlighted key themes such as:
- The influence of Islamic traditions on business and marketing practices  
- The multicultural and diverse social fabric of the UAE  
- The importance of aligning brand messaging with local cultural values  
- Opportunities and challenges in developing marketing campaigns in an international setting

 

The session sparked meaningful dialogue among participants, as Mr. Hui encouraged youth to cultivate cultural awareness and adaptability. He emphasized that understanding regional nuances is essential for building successful international careers in today’s interconnected world.

 

Mr. Joseph Chan, Chairman of the Silk Road Economic Development Research Center, joined the luncheon and actively took part in the discussion. He engaged with the speaker and attendees in an exchange of ideas, offering perspectives on international development and youth engagement.

The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, where attendees explored how to prepare for global careers in emerging markets like Dubai.
